"I visited Tamara for advice and found her very professional and was impressed by her nutritional knowledge. Tamara's warm, approachable manner made me feel comfortable to discuss what I was hoping to achieve. I liked the way I received healthy meal suggestions and I noticed a real difference by following Tamara's advice. Tamara has an abundance of knowledge of different food groups, health benefits and food groups to avoid that I wasn't aware of. She is a fantastic nutritionist!""Helen - London

How does nutritional therapy work?
Nutritional Therapy is a patient-centred and evidence based approach to healthcare which recognises the biological uniqueness of each patient. In Nutritional Therapy, protocols are tailored towards maintaining health and promoting vitality and wellness by identifying biochemical imbalances and nutrient depletions, and by incorporating nutrient richfoods and supplement protocols.
Nutritional therapy is based on a Functional Medicine framework, which addresses the underlying causes of disease by treating the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. It incorporates the latest in genetic science, system biology, and an understanding of how dietary, environmental and lifestyle factors influence the emergence and progression of disease. The framework uses a personalised approach that empowers patients to take an active role in their own health, and offers a powerful clinical model for assessment, treatment, and prevention of chronic disease.
Who can it benefit?
Anyone looking to enhance their health and wellness. Nutritional therapy supports a wide range of health concerns including:
- Poor Energy Levels & Fatigue
- Stress & Anxiety
- Hormone Imbalances
- Weight management
- Immune & inflammatory processes
- Digestive Health
What to expect at the consultation
The initial consultation
Prior to your first consultation you will be asked to complete a health and nutrition questionnaire along with a 3 day food diary. At the initial consultation, I will go through your health questionnaire and gather details about your medical history, lifestyle and goals, health concerns and your diet and eating patterns. You will be given some basic dietary and lifestyle recommendations to take away. Following on from this I will research your case and put together a detailed personalised plan, tailored towards your health concerns.
I will talk you through your personalised nutrition program and explain any findings and monitor your progress. Providing further information on recommendations, meal suggestions and recipes as needed. Your programme may include recommendations on nutritional supplements and tests. (Two consultations ensure you receive the most comprehensive guidance).
Additional follow up consultations
Nutritional Therapy regularly requires ongoing support. The number of follow-ups may vary between patients. Subsequent appointments allow the practitioner to monitor a patient’s progress and make adjustments to the personalised plan and review supplement programmes and test results.
In certain circumstances you may be recommended to undergo one or more laboratory investigations. These enable a more targeted and individualised nutrition programme to be devised and they can also help to monitor your progress as you work through the programme.
Typically, a test will involve a sample of your breath, blood, saliva, urine and/or stool. Many samples can be taken at home. Occasionally, you may be asked to attend the laboratory to provide your samples. A range of UK medial laboratories are used, including Biolab and Genova Diagnostics.
There are many different types of test that may be considered, such as:
- Digestive and gut function analyses
- Allergy and food intolerance tests
- Assessments of nutrition status
- Hormonal imbalances tests
