I’m very much food first. I take supplements myse I’m very much food first.

I take supplements myself and I recommend them to my clients too. But sometimes I have clients come in with a big carrier bag full of supplements, and we go through them one by one.

More isn’t always better when it comes to supplements.

I like to look at the basics first.
Are you eating enough?
Getting enough protein and fibre?
Eating a good variety of foods?
How’s your sleep?
And how are you actually feeling?

I’m not against supplements at all. I just think there should be a reason behind taking them.

Food first. Supplements where needed.

It’s very easy to put everything down to perimenopause and changing hormones, but there are other things worth looking at too.
Ferritin is one of them.
Ferritin gives us an idea of the iron stored in your body. This can be particularly worth looking at if your periods have become heavier, longer or more frequent.
Low iron can be associated with tiredness, headaches, hair shedding and difficulty concentrating, and these symptoms can overlap with perimenopause.
I like to look at the bigger picture, including your symptoms, menstrual history and blood results.
Test, don’t guess.
If you’d like to find out more about the blood testing I offer, do get in touch.

It’s been a while! I’ve been a bit quiet on here It’s been a while!

I’ve been a bit quiet on here, but thought this was a good time to come back.

I love this time of year, getting outside, enjoying seasonal food and making the most of what’s around us.

I’m all about nourishing ourselves, but I also think food should be enjoyable and keeping things simple is key.

I’m hoping to share more recipes, nutrition and lifestyle tips on here too.

So…. hello again 👋

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated. As Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated.

As a nutritional therapist, I’m often asked what the healthiest foods are. My answer is usually much simpler than people expect: eat more plants.

More colour, more variety and more fibre can make a real difference to overall health.

These broad beans came from my garden, simple, seasonal and packed with nutrition 🌱

What’s your favourite way to eat broad beans?
